The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Department of Human Services (DHS) together have launched a new COVID-19 Response and Recovery Unit (CRRU). The CRRU is recruiting for seven (7) COVID-19 Testing Team Medical Assistants (Administrative Specialist 1).

What will you do?
The COVID-19 Testing Team Medical Assistants will primarily be responsible for collecting or monitoring the collection of COVID-19 laboratory specimens at community events within their assigned region. These positions will collect and confirm quality data collection for data needed to submit and route lab specimens. In addition, the COVID-19 Testing Team Medical Assistant will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) during the collection and support the use of appropriate PPE for community members and peers. These positions will make calls to community members to provide negative test results or to collect data, and work with the testing team to support the community testing events.

What are we looking for?
Requested Skills
·       Minimum Requirements: three years of clerical/secretarial experience that included:
o   Two years at a full performance level performing typing, word processing, or other generation of documents AND
o   lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.
Courses or training in Office Occupations or Office Technology may be substituted for up to one year of the clerical/secretarial experience. No substitution will be made for the two years at the full performance level.
 
  • Special Requirements:
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Training at a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant, through either Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants or American Medical Technologists.
·       This position requires a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
·       Preference will be given to applicants that are bi-lingual (English, Spanish).
·       Demonstrated experience with project or community event coordination skills.
·       Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·       Experience collecting laboratory specimens and administering vaccinations as part of your daily job responsibilities is desired.
·       Experience applying rules, regulations, standards and guidelines in clinical/laboratory settings.
·       Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Suite software.
·       Experience establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with the public, co-workers, other government jurisdictional employees, professionals, and representatives of community stakeholders 
·       Experience partnering with, building, stewarding relationships or working with individuals from diverse backgrounds which may include people with limited English proficiency, the disability community, including people with behavioral health conditions, communities of color, immigrants and refugees and other historically marginalized communities.

Working conditions
·       These positions will require travel to testing events across their region and potentially to other regions if necessary.
·       Testing events will often be held on weekends and at various times of the week. Hours worked will vary week to week and be dependent upon the events being scheduled. Events will be in public settings and outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
