About this position: The Parks Technicians ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper function of park grounds and facilities. This includes performing a full range of grounds maintenance, irrigation maintenance, restroom maintenance, facilities/building maintenance on the grounds and a variety of other tasks as assigned. Parks Technicians ensure the overall safety of parks users by inspecting the grounds and equipment.
About the work: Parks Technicians should have the communication skills to provide effective customer service, as they will be a representative of both Portland Parks & Recreation and the City of Portland. They should be able to function as a highly skilled and productive team member. These positions may also be assigned to direct the work of crews or work groups, responsible for worker or volunteer safety, review of work, and provide training and guidance in duties. These positions work out-of-doors for extended periods under unfavorable weather conditions.
