Description
The Partners Section of the Wildlife Division is primarily responsible for habitat development and restoration efforts, and access programs on privately owned lands. 

Job location is Bassett/Ord.

Examples of Work
Biologist II- Bassett/Ord Nebraska: Under general direction, with limited supervision of District Manager, coordinate and implement all habitat improvement and public access program offerings at the district level (e.g. PR Grouse, WILD Nebraska, Open Fields and Waters, etc.). Activities include: Site assessment, habitat planning, contract coordination, fish and wildlife surveys and reporting. Provide technical assistance of wildlife habitat enhancement techniques to private landowners and partners. Assist with or coordinate activities and projects within the division as assigned. Work closely with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, Natural Resources Districts, Pheasants Forever and other partners to train and assist staff with conservation planning and project design of benefit to wildlife. 

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in fish or wildlife management or closely related field or equivalent experience in the field of biological science AND three years experience in fish or wildlife management or a closely related field OR Master's degree in fish or wildlife management or closely related field or equivalent experience in the field of biological science AND one year experience in fish and wildlife management or a closely related field.

OTHER:  Valid driver's license or able to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of wildlife and habitat management principles, goals, objectives and techniques, ecological principles, and species’ life histories and habitat needs with emphasis on rangeland, grazing management, prescribed fire and grassland wildlife including prairie grouse. Basic knowledge of budgeting processes and record keeping systems. Solid computer skills, especially Microsoft Office and ArcGIS. Ability to communicate effectively, plan, set goals and prioritize work. Ability to perform heavy physical labor and work outdoors for long periods of time; operate and maintain various tools.
