You will provide expert leadership to guide IT project teams in requirements analysis, systems analysis and design, development, testing, and deployment to achieve desired business outcomes. You will be trusted to effectively manage project deliverables such as project charters and scopes, communication plans, schedules, change and risk management plans, and resources for each assigned project. You will use your project management expertise to mentor and coach project team members, other project managers and project coordinators.

Here’s what you will do:
As an Information Technology Project Manager, you will provide project management leadership, standards, and methodologies to information technology projects and initiatives that address the combined interests of the department and its many partners. These projects will be enterprise-wide, cross divisional, or cross agency. You will organize, oversee, lead and monitor the progress of multi-disciplinary work teams composed of DCBS divisions and its varying stakeholders depending on the project at hand. You will be responsible for managing the scope, schedules, risks, changes, budgets, and timelines for all aspects of each assigned project.

Here’s what you need to qualify:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Seven (7) years of information systems experience in professional project management of information technology projects. Experience must include project management activities of initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closure, and hand-off to operations; and managing projects based on software application development methodologies;
OR

  • An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND 5 years of information systems experience in professional project management of information technology projects. Experience must include project management activities of initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closure, and hand-off to operations; and managing projects based on software application development methodologies;
OR

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND three (3) years of information systems experience in professional project management of information technology projects. Experience must include project management activities of initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closure, and hand-off to operations; and managing projects based on software application development methodologies;
OR

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in professional project management of information technology projects. Experience must include project management activities of initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closure, and hand-off to operations; and managing projects based on software application development methodologies.
Requested Skills:

  • Proven success managing projects through Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management practices and an ability to create foundational project artifacts
  • Adept at recognizing and anticipating emerging project risks and business priorities and addressing these developments through risk mitigation, contingency plans and communication strategies
  • Demonstrated proficiency in facilitating meetings and conversations and articulate expected outcomes, issues and risks
  • Proven ability to develop project goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
  • Preference may be given to candidates with formal project management credentials, such as: PMP (Project Management Professional) or OPMA certification (Oregon Project Management Associate)
