The CSU Drone Center is looking for a motivated, professional, and qualified student to join our team. The Drone Center is a rapidly growing facility handling many requests for Drone services, education, consultation, and more. Learn more about us at our website, HERE.

Responsibilities

This position would be focused in assisting the Drone Center with daily operations, piloting, training, and equipment management. Tasks would include, abut are not limited to:

  • Planning and piloting unmanned aircraft missions
  • Aircraft fleet management and maintenance
  • Teaching/Training UAS regulations and flight skills
  • Representing the Drone Center at events (such as fairs and presentations)
  • Working with clients and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Working with 2D/3D mapping and modeling software
  • Development of marketing and advertising materials 

Qualifications

The person for this position will need to already possess a skill set related to UAS and/or traditional aviation, and/or the ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and material. The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Previous experience working with technology, micro-computers, or photography
  • The ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to successfully complete and pass the FAA Part 107 certification within 2 months of employment
  • Able to apply critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Be eager to learn on the job, while gaining valuable experience in a wide variety of applications
  • Resourceful problem solver and self learner
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Be punctual, professional, and reliable
  • Able to work 10-15 hours per week
  • Available to work full time over the summer

The ideal candidate would also have some or all of these preferred qualifications:

  • Traditional aviation experience
  • Previous experience working with and piloting UAS
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (Or a Part 61 Student/Private/Commercial/ATP Pilot Certificate)
  • IT/Computer skill set
  • A basic understanding of drone applications for research, commercial, and hobby use
  • Experience with Pix4D or Agisoft Metashape
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with photography/videography
  • Drone repair and assembly skills
  • Basic programming skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • A reliable method of transportation
  • Be a student at CSU for at least 2 more years

Additional Information

The work schedule for this position may vary some week to week. We will accommodate your classes and commitments but some flexibility is required. Additionally, transportation to the CSU Engineering Research Center (on the CSU Foothills Campus) is required.

Hourly Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
