Visual Communications Designer/Planner
Our Entry-Level Visual Communications Designer/Planners can come from a variety of backgrounds and educations: graphic design, UI/UX design, GIS design, planning, landscape architecture, etc. We don’t have an archetype for this role; but we are a diverse group of individuals with one thing in common, a passion for transportation. We’re always looking to connect with visual designers interested in joining our team to help raise the bar on our project deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Work on design and document layout for competitive proposals, reports, presentations and other deliverables
- Take complex transportation analysis concepts and turn them into intuitive visuals
- Continually share ideas and examples with colleagues
- Collaborate with project managers to determine the best way to deliver information
Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Strong visual and written communication skills
- A portfolio showing visual design projects
- Interpersonal skills, desire to collaborate, and a creative approach to problem-solving
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- An interest in transportation or urban planning, and a desire to learn cutting-edge software programs
Preferred skills include:
- Internship in urban planning, urban design, or transportation planning
- Basic understanding of ESRI ArcGIS
- Basic knowledge of SketchUp or other 3D visualization software
- Basic web design skills in WordPress or similar software
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field
