POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for Cash, Payroll, and Fixed asset accounting functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Cash Accounting responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing, reconciling and researching bank accounts and credit card transactions for all Alterra Mountain Company companies.
  • Payroll Accounting responsibilities include posting and reconciling the labor and payroll interface files, reconciling specific payroll balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions, completion of account reconciliations and internal controls.
  • On a timely and routine basis, prepare balance sheet account reconciliations including cash accounts, credit card accounts, payroll, tax, benefit, and lodging accounts in accordance with company standards with sufficient detail to substantiate trial balance accounts to an external auditor with adequate documentation.
  • Research and resolve issues related to reconciliations and outstanding issues on assigned accounts on a daily, weekly, monthly, and as needed basis.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity for all cash and payroll accounts by ensuring all bank fees, credit card fees, over/shorts, etc. are booked on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly close process for cash.
  • Collect daily bank files from financial institutions.
  • Reconcile and post daily payroll and weekly labor upload files from payroll system into JDE.
  • Highlight and explain non-routine cash transactions and significant variances to Finance department management.
  • Prepare and process general ledger transactions according to Alterra Mountain Company policies and procedures.
  • Primary point of contact for assigned resorts for any labor and benefit related questions.
  • Provide additional monthly management reporting as needed.
  • Respond to resort and internal customer inquiries.
  • Understand the flow of information through the payroll and general ledger systems.
  • Assist with the ongoing effort to streamline the cash management process.
  • Initiate Wire and ACH payments as requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
  • D365 experience preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of US GAAP required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (vlookup, sumif, index match, pivot tables, etc.)
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Organized in tasks. Excellent follow through and timely response to all inquiries.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
Experience:
• 2+ years of accounting experience, specifically complex bank reconciliations
• Experience using multiple accounting and other software applications such as JDE and D365
