The Department of Social and Health Services Child Study & Treatment Center (CSTC) is seeking a licensed Psychologist with specialized knowledge of pretrial forensic evaluations of minors and young adults, familiarity with the juvenile justice system, and an understanding of the role of forensic evaluations within the juvenile justice system in order to provide services to courts throughout the state of Washington.
 
In this unique role, you will conduct pretrial forensic evaluations primarily for the juvenile courts of Washington. Your success will come from your ability to perform assessment and treatment (as needed) of normal child/adolescent development, child/adolescent psychopathology, and developmental disabilities as they occur in children and adolescents.
 
 Some of what you will do: 
  • Conduct diagnostic and forensic interviews of court-referred youth and their caregivers, review collateral records, interview collateral sources, and administer, score, and interpret appropriate tests
  • Perform case-specific psychological, medical and legal research as needed
  • Write reports for multidisciplinary audiences regarding clinical diagnosis, competence to proceed to adjudication, and the likelihood of restoration, as well as risk assessment, and/or mental state at the time of the offense as needed
  • Provide testimony as necessary
  • Perform management of assigned cases and associated records
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to conduct competence restoration services as indicated
  • Travel occasionally to provide services to courts
 
  We are looking for a professional with:
  • A doctoral degree in clinical psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association
  • Successful completion of a pre-doctoral internship that is accredited by the American Psychological Association
  • Knowledge of normal child/adolescent development, developmental psychopathology, and developmental disorders as identified in youth
  • Post-doctoral training or experience conducting forensic evaluations (including interviews, report-writing, and testimony)
  • A license to practice as a psychologist in the state of Washington or eligibility to be licensed within six months of hire

 We are most interested in applicants with:
  • Clinical experience with developmentally disabled and/or mentally ill children, adolescents, and young adults
  • Familiarity with court-involved youth and the basic elements of the juvenile justice system
  • Specific experience conducting pretrial forensic evaluations of adolescents and young adults
