Definition:

Under general supervision, perform a variety of work in support of the Exhibition department of the Longmont Museum. Assist the department staff in the development, design and fabrication of exhibitions.   
 




Principal Duties:

Research exhibition topics that support the Museum’s temporary exhibitions. Develop and design exhibition components using software such as Revit, Rhino, or Sketchup. Fabricate exhibition components utilizing Museum’s ShopBot CNC router. Install high quality exhibition components using current best practices in material choice and use. Assist in the installation and de-installation of temporary exhibitions. This may include, unloading trucks, moving crates, unpacking crates, condition reporting, assembling exhibition, hanging artwork, de-installing exhibition, packing crates and loading trucks. Keep exhibition shop and storage areas organized and clean. Investigate and apply innovative exhibition fabrication techniques. Requires working cooperatively and effectively with co-workers, volunteers, and the general public. Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes.
 




Working Environment:

Work is generally performed in a woodworking shop, general office space, or museum galleries. Frequent use of power and hand tools, ladders, and floor mounted woodworking machinery. Moving through diverse work environments involving bending/stooping, twisting, kneeling and squatting. Some work performed in general office space on personal computer. Involves exposure to paints, solvents, fumes, dust, machinery, and noise. May involve standing for several hours. Fine motor skills sufficient to handle rare and fragile artifacts safely.





Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. Must be 18 years of age or older. Course work in architecture, interior design, graphic design, or product design is desirable.
