City of Delray Beach - Summer Internship Program 2021
Dates: June 1, 2021 – August 6, 2021

Essential job functions
  • Work with mentor to select major projects of interest.
  • Research, design and implement engineering-related projects.
  • Ability to conduct research on various planning/urban design issues. 
  • Provide assistance to ongoing Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects when needed. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ability to collect field data as needed.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of a team with other transportation professionals.
Knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret surveys, maps, and general transportation engineering/planning-related data. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications and Internet.   
  • Interest in researching up-to-date transportation/traffic engineering concepts/techniques. 
  • Ability to sketch conceptual designs. 
 Learning Goals
  • Knowledge of City’s Program Functions and role of CIP
  • Knowledge of local government administration and policy development
  • Knowledge of diverse challenges facing urban areas

Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduates and graduates welcome to apply - Current college student or recent graduate majoring Urban and Regional Planning, Sustainability Studies, Ecosystem, and Natural Resources Management, Engineering, Environmental Studies. Master Students Preferred
