Planned Gift Administration Intern

Department
 
Our dynamic Development Department is responsible for raising over $700 million annually to support the mission of the organization.
 
The Planned Gift Administration team is responsible for securing approximately $120 million in matured planned gifts.
 
 
Project
 
 
The Planned Gift Administration Intern primarily supports the administrative activities of the Planned Gift Administration team. They will learn how a large, non-governmental organization (NGO) administers bequests from estates and trusts. They will also have the opportunity to learn about MSF's operations and international medical programs in more than 70 countries around the world. This internship is well-suited for anyone considering a career in development (fundraising) and in the administration of non-profit organizations or NGOs, or in estate planning.
 
 
Tasks
 
 
The Planned Gift Administration Intern will be expected to perform the following tasks:
  • Review new bequest notices (notices from attorneys or other representatives that MSF has been named in a donor’s will or trust), set up estate in our database and enter all relevant information.
  • Keep database updated with new critical information as we learn of estates’ progress.
  • Maintain all electronic estate files and communications.
  • Prepare letters to send out to estate executors, attorneys, and donors as needed.
  • Assist with mail sorting and scanning.
  • Complete other administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.
 
Attend virtual MSF internal presentations, public education events, and staff and department meetings as scheduling allows.
 
 
Qualifications
 
Required
 
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Experience with large databases or donor management systems (i.e. Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge)
  • Genuine commitment to MSF’s principles and work.
