Objective: Under the supervision of a faculty member or senior researcher, the research
assistant is responsible for assisting researchers in a variety of tasks including preparing
equipment or materials, data cleaning and processing, data analysis, and documenting results
related to the analysis of data collected during mobile methane mapping surveys.
Typical Duties: The supervising faculty or researcher will determine specific duties to assist in
the preparation for and achievement of the research goals, which may include the following
and/or other duties specific to the research objectives:
● Collect, aggregate, synthesize, and clean data
● Analyze data using R software
● Document findings and develop research presentations, reports, and/or manuscripts to
communicate research findings
● Meets with supervisor on a regular basis to maintain ongoing communication regarding
the reporting of research findings, meeting research goals, and quality of the assistant’s
performance
● Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
● Understanding of basic statistical modeling techniques, including simple and multiple
linear regression
● Basic or advanced programming skills in one or more statistical software programs,
preferably R or Python
Skills/Abilities:
● Oral and written communication skills to discuss and document research findings
● Ability to work independently
● Problem solving skills to address technical and methodological issues that arise during
the course of the research
● Strong organization and interpersonal skills


Hourly Pay Rate : $15/hour
