Environmental Technician Lead -Redmond, WA

Job Summary
The Environmental Technician is responsible for supporting the business through field activities including sampling, re-packing (as needed), and managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

Hours: Swing Shift – 3:30pm – 12:00am

Accountabilities
  • Proficiency in referencing Federal/State EPA regulations for generator applicability and hazardous waste disposal
  • Perform inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance in regard to 40CFR
  • Manage accumulation of generated hazardous and non-hazardous waste according to DOT requirements
  • Understand and manage chemicals based on physical and chemical properties for proper disposal
  • Responsible for proper packaging of hazardous waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance
  • Oversee the Inspections of waste accumulation storage areas for leaks or spills
  • Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations
  • Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency, maintain compliance, and safety
  • Identify unknown laboratory chemicals when they are encountered
  • Develop and update process SOP’s
  • Perform other assignments as assigned by management
  • Availability to work weekends and extended hours on an emergency basis or as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Ability
  • Proficiency with EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations (WA Dangerous Waste)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Experience at supervising personnel
  • Ability to adapt and provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Extensive waste profiling experience
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Health and Safety conscious
  • Industrial wastewater and Clean Air Act knowledge a plus
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen, physical, and drug-screen

Education/Experience
  • 3-7 years prior experience in the hazardous materials/waste industry
  • 40 Hr. Hazwopper training
  • RCRA and DOT Training
  • 8 Hour OSHA Refresher Annually
