Research Microbiologist

This position is located in the National Center for Toxicological Research, Office of Research, Division of Microbiology which performs fundamental and applied research to address critical issues in support of the FDA mission. The Division's research projects are based on expertise of division staff and consultation with scientists from other FDA Centers, regulatory agencies, academia, and industry.

Responsibilities
  • Design all phases of research projects involving the development of new and/or modification of existing methods using molecular biology, metabolism, microbial physiology, genomics and bioinformatics techniques.
  • Direct a research program related to the mission of the Division of Microbiology and its research focal areas.
  • Prepare official correspondence and reports and generate scientific manuscripts of publication in medical and scientific journals.
  • Exchange information and ideas with other scientists on the latest developments in the biomedical sciences and current trends in the microbiological sciences and utilize this information for the development of new or improved research outcomes.
