Position Description:

Duration: 6 months

Data Scientist

We are seeking a data scientist to join our team focused on creating descriptive and predictive models for agronomic customer behavior.

What You Will Do:
- Wrangle, explore, and model large and complex agronomic datasets
- Perform completeness and coherence analysis when reconciling customer data from multiple sources; investigate sources of variance as needed
- Design and prototype customer behavior models that correlate observations to desirable business outcomes with an emphasis on interpretability
- Analyze impact of missing/partial data, data quality, feature bias, and other factors on modeling performance and interpretability
- Create technical documents that outline technical approach and evaluation framework prior to start of work and after project completion
- Assist with project and code reviews

Basic Qualifications:
- MS in Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science, Physics or other quantitative discipline
- Intermediate Python skill with one year experience conducting exploratory data analysis and modeling using Python
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience manipulating and analyzing large data sets, including SQL/Dataframe experience for wrangling data into analysis ready datasets
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem solving ability, with demonstrated ability to build, test, and iterate on a variety of model forms
- Skilled in the use of Python for research
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science, Physics or other quantitative discipline
- Experience with Customer Behavior modeling
- Experience working with regular expressions or other text matching tools for improving quality of customer entered data
- Experience with PySpark
- Experience using data science to lead the inquiry and evaluation of complex business problems
- Experience working with agriculture data
- Strong drive to learn new topics and skills and to develop innovative products for our customers
