History Work Study Administrative Assistant

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
· Seeking a self-motivated, multi-tasking, and critically thinking student employee for an entry-level Administrative Assistant position to help with routine office duties such as mail pick up and distribution, photocopying, filing, updating or preparing documents and lists as needed (directories, door signs, spreadsheets, etc.)
· Greet visitors (mostly students) to the Department office in a courteous and professional manner
· Responsible for keeping the main office, copier room, faculty lounge and conference rooms tidy, sanitized, and stocked with supplies
· Assist with departmental advertising and communications such as creating event or course flyers using the Canva graphic design platform
· Report directly to the Assistant to the Chair and Chair of the Department with the willingness to work on special projects and perform additional tasks upon request
· Assist with ordering textbooks for GTAs and professors
· As needed, will serve as a back-up department computer lab monitor

Required Qualifications:
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Ability to respond to the needs to diverse populations
· Availability to work 10-15 hours per week
· Arrive on time and demonstrate effective time management
· Experience using Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Outlook · Ability to learn campus-wide software systems such as Time Clock Plus
· Ability to work independently and efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:
· Utilize available resources to critically solve problems and answer questions
· Contribute a positive attitude to the work environment
· History Majors preferred, other majors from the College of Liberal Arts will be considered next, then open to other majors
· Knowledge of the History Undergraduate concentrations as well as the requirements for a History minor

Start Date: August 23, 2021
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Pay Rate: $12.46/hr (based on amount awarded from work study)
Classification: Student Hourly Work Study *applicants must have a work study award to apply*
