Colorado Water Center Outreach Assistant

CSU Department: Colorado Water Center (CoWC)
Pay Rate: Starting at $15-$17 per hour. Pay to commensurate with experience and qualifications
Start Date: August 2021. Position open until filled
Position Classification: Student Hourly, approximately 20 hours per week
Supervisor: Julie Kallenberger, Associate Director  

Job Description/Summary
The Colorado Water Center (CoWC) seeks to hire a CSU student to support the Center’s outreach and communication activities. This position is responsible for writing content for The Current e-news, social media channels, websites, and outreach materials, as well as staffing the Center’s table display at water-related events. The ideal candidate will understand the complexities of water issues in Colorado and the West, enjoy bringing new ideas to the table, and thrive in a collaborative environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to broaden your knowledge and skills on many water topics and engage with the water community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·      Research and write engaging water-related content for marketing channels, including digital platforms and websites
·      Collaborate with CSU’s Office of Extension and Engagement communications team to distribute content to engage CoWC’s key audiences
·      Staff CoWC exhibit booth at campus and local events. Share water-related information and resources with event attendees
·      Provide general outreach and communications support, including maintaining subscription lists, developing presentation slides, and coordinating event logistics.

Required Qualifications
·      Pursuing a graduate water-related degree at Colorado State University
·      Excellent written and oral communication skills
·      Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
·      Ability to learn quickly and succeed in a fast-paced work environment
·      Ability to problem-solve, prioritize tasks, and manage time to meet deadlines
·      Available for at least 20 hours per week. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required 
·      A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date as well as a clean driving record
 
Preferred Qualifications             
·      Experience engaging with diverse audiences, including faculty and students
·      Experience writing compelling copy for social and digital platforms for a diverse range of audiences
·      Knowledge of social and digital media trends
·      Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere) to create visual media
