Animal Care Technician
Laboratory Animal Resources will be hiring one or more Animal Care Technicians. This position provides care to a variety of research animals including rodents, rabbits, cats, dogs, fish, livestock and wildlife species. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend, approximately 3-6 hours both days starting at 7:30 am. Weekday hours are flexible depending upon class schedules, and will fall between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm. This position is on-going, and we hope to hire students that will remain with us until they graduate. You will gain a considerable amount of animal handling experience in this role.
Job duties/ responsibilities:
· Observe animals and their environment daily and report abnormalities V/ WC
· Provide food, water and enrichment CD
· Clean and sanitize caging, equipment and facilities TW
· Administer medical treatments to animals CD
· Complete paperwork such as daily task checklists and medical records V/ WC
· Work independently and efficiently CT/ PS
Minimum requirements for this position:
- Some previous animal experience. You will not be considered if this isn’t demonstrated on your resume. If you do not have previous animal experience you may contact Ashley.imperia@colostate.edu to inquire about volunteer opportunities.
- Ability to work on holidays and during class breaks
- Reliable transportation to travel to foothills campus including on weekends
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bending, standing, kneeling
- At least 2 semesters of time remaining with CSU.
