College & Career Program Associate Director

Bridges Baltimore is committed to the long-term success of Baltimore City youth and to providing life-changing opportunities to independent school students. Our team of 13 serves approximately 500 people per year - 300 Baltimore City youth ages 9-23 and 200 independent school students. Our two sites, Bridges at St. Paul’s Schools (est. 1993) & Bridges at Gilman School (est. 2014), operate on a budget of $1.4mm. Watch a short Bridges video HERE.
 
The Opportunity
We are seeking one highly motivated professional to join our team as the “College & Career Program Associate Director.” This role is critical to Bridges’ efforts to help students convert higher education into fulfilling careers with financial security. 

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Student Success Support: Execute structured individualized support designed to help students transition effectively into higher education, engage fully with school life, and build the relationships, academic background, and experiential resume needed to convert their educations into fulfilling careers with financial security.
  • Student Special Assistance Support: Execute special assistance support, as needed, to help students navigate circumstances that can derail school success. Special assistance often helps students through acute financial pressures, difficult academic & social adjustments, and other complex moments.
  • Summer Retreats: Conduct multi-day group retreats before each year of higher education to build community and prepare students for successful year-to-year transitions.
  • Career Transition Preparation: Prepare students for their career transitions by helping students package themselves effectively, run efficient career searches, differentiate between opportunities, and enter work with a detailed budget of all income and expenses.
  • Career Transition Support: Support students in their first year of work by helping them hone workplace communication skills, manage the transition to work, and develop effective personal finance practices.
  • Special Programming: Execute special programming as needed. This could include helping to pilot new program initiatives, community building activities, or enrichment programming.
  • Communications: Market our work via social media and special events with our communications team.

Ideal Candidates
  • Youth Development: Understand how to meet students and families where they are and can serve as a guide to success through the college and early-career years.
  • Relationships: Form strong relationships with people regardless of background and can be effective working and communicating with families, students, professors, volunteers, partners, staff, and host schools.
  • Project Management: Extraordinary organizational and project management skills and can manage overlapping timelines and projects effectively.
  • Technology: Comfortable using workplace technology including email, text, Microsoft suite, and adapting to other tools as needed.
  • Driving: This role will require driving a 14-passenger van (we will train you!)

Desired Background
  • Work experience: 4+ years in the field with track record of consistent success; time as a teacher, social worker, school counselor, student advisor, and/or a related role
  • Education: Undergraduate degree with a proven record of academic success
 
Role Details
  • Compensation: The salary for this full-time 12-month role is commensurate with experience. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits program which includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, vision, disability and 403(b). Other supplemental benefits included a lunch benefit, fitness center and tuition remission.
  • Start Date: The role is set to begin in late summer or early fall.
  • Supervision: This role reports to the College & Career Program Director.
  • Location: This role is based at Bridges’ location at the St. Paul’s Schools (Brooklandville, MD) and requires travel to and from regional colleges & our office in Belvedere Square.
  • Hours: This role will follow typical business hours with occasional evenings & weekends.
