Fall 2021 Fellowship - Miles/Mulcahy Gender Equality

Summary
In 2017 the Save the Children Federation adopted a gender equality policy positing that a focus on gender equality is fundamental for achieving our vision for all children. In 2019, Save the Children, U.S. (SCUS) launched its first-ever gender equality strategy which recognizes that transformative change can only be achieved if we take an inside-out approach to this work – advancing gender equality not only across programming and advocacy, but also in how we operate.

As our global organization enters into a new strategic period (2022-2024), the Miles-Mulcahy Gender Equality Fellow will work alongside the Save the Children, U.S. Gender Equality team and global Gender Equality Technical Working Group to support the development of the Federation’s 2022-2024 gender equality strategy. 

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
The Fall 2021 Miles-Mulcahy Gender Equality Fellow will work alongside the Associate Vice President for Gender Equality at SCUS, the Gender Equality Team & Hub, and global Gender Equality Technical Working Group to co-develop the 2022-2024 gender equality strategy.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Impact
The Fall 2021 Miles Mulcahy Gender Equality Fellow will engage in the development of Save the Children Federation’s 2022-2024 global gender equality strategy. The Fellow will:
  • Support strategy development planning
  • Support consultations with key internal and external stakeholders to inform strategy development
  • Support the development of strategy content based on synthesis of consultation findings
  • Support strategy design; and
  • Support the development of a strategy roll-out communications plan
Further, the Miles-Mulcahy Gender Equality Fellow will support the Save the Children, U.S. Gender Equality Team and Hub to advance their current and new gender equality strategy. 

Required Qualifications
Must be an actively enrolled graduate or post-graduate student or have graduated within 6 months of start date
  • Possess excellent written skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Currently eligible to work in the U.S.

  3. Promotes knowledge sharing on gender equality: Articulates a description of gender inequalities as relevant to their area of focus. Fosters and seeks out learning related to gender equality.

Classification: Paid Fellow
Part-time: 20-24 hours per week
Dates: September 20, 2021 – December 3, 2021
