Description
**This is a full-time, temporary assignment expected to last until February 28, 2022**
Location: 90164 Hatchery Road in Valentine, Nebraska
Examples of Work
Assist the general public with information on wildlife questions and issues. Respond to depredation, disease, injured and nuisance wildlife complaints. Working odd hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends are expected. Also assist with operations and maintenance of wildlife management areas: fencing, tree clearing, and assist with deer check station.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: 12 semester hours or the equivalent of post high school coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources and/or biology OR 6 months experience in wildlife/recreation or fisheries management.
OTHER: Driver's license is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of and ability to operate tractors, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV's), chainsaws, farm equipment, firearms and knives; basic knowledge of wildlife management principles. Basic knowledge of big game animal behaviors is highly desirable. Computer skills (MS Word, Access, Excel) highly desirable. Driver's license required. Requirement: A general qualification guideline for this position is 12-15 hours of college-level course work in natural resources or one year experience in wildlife management.
