Temporary Conservation Technician I 60007214

Description
The Management Section of the Wildlife Division is primarily responsible for implementation of habitat development and restoration efforts on public Wildlife Management Areas and conducting wildlife population surveys along with disease (including Chronic Wasting Disease) and depredation response. 

**This is a temporary assignment expected to last until 9/30/2021**

Examples of Work
Assist with prescribed burning, ground preparation and planting of food plots and grass plantings, repair and maintain equipment, assist with wildlife surveys, mix and apply chemicals, word processing, age and check deer and assist in operation of controlled hunts. 

Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: 12 semester hours or the equivalent of post high school coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources and/or biology OR 6 months experience in wildlife/recreation or fisheries management. Driver’s license required.  

PREFERRED: Applicants with Pesticide Applicators license and Class A CDL license with O endorsement.  
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of and ability to operate tractors, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), chainsaws, and farm equipment; basic knowledge of wildlife management principles. Computer skills (MS Word, Excel) desirable.
