Come join a dynamic team as the new Career and Technical Education Coordinator

Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a team player as the new Career and Technical Education Coordinator to coordinate and administer the career and technical education program for VESOY (Vocation Education Services for Older Youth) youth (those youth who have received a high school diploma or are 21 years of age or older).

A Day In The Life:

  • Assist youth through the registration process for on-line college classes and monitor computer use during their education.
  • Assist with financial aid applications and other educational funding sources.
  • Implement, monitor and assess career and technical education assessments and curriculum.
  • Develop work experience opportunities for youth where applicable in the community) including employment, volunteer experience, internships, apprenticeships and job shadowing.
  • Transports youth to and from these opportunities as well as supervising DOC (Department of Corrections) youth while participating in these off campus activities.
  • Recruit volunteers to share their experiences/trades and educating youth on possible career tracks.
  • Participate as a member of the MDT (Multi Disciplinary Team) for all VESOY youth regarding career and technical education case plan goals.
  • Tracking hours and youth progress

This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU/OPEU).

What We Are Looking For:
 
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; OR
  • Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years technical-level experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES/APPLICATION SCORING CRITERIA: In addition to your related work experience and education, we will use the attributes below as part of final scoring to advance those that qualify to the interview portion.

  • Knowledge and/or experience training on wildland fire fighting.
  • Experience training and instructing youth in a classroom or on the job training.
  • Experience working with local school programs to create career and technical goals for youth.
  • Experience building and developing appropriate relationships with peers, colleagues, stakeholders, and community members at all levels to achieve a common goal.
