Forestry Technician (vegetation & fuels monitoring)
Job Description
Measures and records vegetation and fuels characteristics in forested ecosystems under the supervision of a lead field technician. Will be trained to use GPS, survey tapes, compass, clinometer, digital camera to record plot locations and vegetation conditions. Plant identification skills preferred but not required. Must have the ability to safely hike through rough uneven terrain "bushwacking" at times 1-5 miles per day and in all weather conditions (heat, rain, snow). Must be able to work 10 hr days 1-2 days per week in coordination with the crew leader (usually Saturday and Sunday). Ability to camp in the field is preferred but not required. The schedule is intermittent and flexible depending on weather field work may not occur in some weeks.

Map and compass orientation skills. Plant identification. Strenuous physical activity.
