International Division Communications Intern
John Snow, Inc., a leader in the field of international public health, is currently recruiting for a part-time communications intern for its International Division. The intern will work closely with staff to provide communications and some administrative and program support for JSI's overseas public health projects in Africa, Asia, and/or the Middle East. The intern will be based in Boston, MA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The intern will work closely with communications advisors and other Boston International Division staff to provide communications and administrative support to international donor funded health projects. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Assisting in executing a major communications campaign focusing on highlighting the work and experiences of several women who lead JSI’s public health programming in Africa and Asia. Assist in producing podcast episodes, photo essays, social media posts, and more to execute and promote the campaign;
- Assisting in executing communications strategies for international projects, including writing, editing, and formatting success stories, case studies, technical briefs, and other project materials;
- Improving international projects’ presence on JSI’s corporate social media platforms and project social media platforms where applicable, e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn;
- Assisting in promoting the work of JSI’s international projects online, including preparing and editing blogs, photo essays on platforms such as the JSI website, Medium, and Exposure, and preparing and updating other content for JSI.com;
- Assisting in the preparation, editing, and coordinating receipt and review of project reports;
- Helping JSI catalogue professional photographs and videos depicting the work of international projects;
- Providing administrative support for field activities;
- Carrying out other relevant tasks as necessary.
- Work as part of a team in the preparation of proposals for new projects.
In addition to project support and proposal tasks, perform activities to maintain and improve the overall functioning of the International Division.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS or master’s degree in progress
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well independently
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus
- Knowledge of/experience with producing/editing podcasts or other audio products a plus
- Knowledge of and experience using social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Interest in learning about international development and public health issues
- Experience living/working in a culturally diverse environment
