We are looking for a self-motivated student research assistant to join the Gonzalez-Juarrero laboratory. The student will assist with studies on the preclinical testing of compounds for the treatment of tuberculosis. 

The successful candidate will have a desire to work with laboratory animals in the biosafety level 3 laboratory and will understand the importance of maintaining a clean work-space by following all lab regulations for health and safety. In addition to having strong attention to detail, you must be responsible and patient. Candidate will work up to 15 hours per week M-F.

Job duties include:
·        dosing, weighing and observing mice in the biosafety level 3 lab
·        keeping concise written records on observations and providing timely updates to research staff over the phone and by email
·        Following laboratory sanitation and safety standards and properly disposing of infectious materials

Required Qualifications:

·        Must be able to work 5-10 hrs. per week
·        Shifts per day and must be at roughly the same time each day
·        Ability to work independently and efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Animal handling experience
·        Experience with working in a lab setting
·        General knowledge of lab safety techniques
