Intern - Software Developer - Summer 2022, MO or Remote (262411)

The Main Responsibilities


As a Software Developer in our Strategic Planning and Transformation organization, the Intern will work collaboratively within our Digital Experience teams. The intern will collaborate with the PF/Chi team in building clean and maintainable code. Tasks during the 10 weeks will include writing new components for the Chi design system and extend existing Portal Framework applications with new pages and functionalities that leverage existing, reusable components and API endpoints. You will need a high level of engagement and ability to take initiative, ask questions and work in a team environment.
 
  • Understand the requirements of each task and discuss the approach with more senior members of the team.
  • Write the required code and tests and validate them locally.
  • Send pull requests and initiate a discussion about the proposed changes.
  • Ensure the CICD builds complete successfully so the changes can be merged successfully.
  • Document the components and/or views properly.
  • Assist with user experience and design.


What We Look For in a Candidate


Education Requirements
  • In pursuit of degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, as a rising senior or master’s level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2022 – June 2023.

Proficiency and understanding of
  • Preferred technical skills: experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Must-have technical skills: experience with any typical high-level language in the industry, such as Java, JS, Python or Go.

  • Ability to be resourceful and adaptable
  • Ability to collaborate and have agility while making effective decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with business partners and drive the conversation.

Work Setting
  • Ideally the position will be in one of the following offices: Town & Country, MO (St. Louis area) or will consider remote/ work from home.
  • Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations)
  • US work authorization
