Undergraduate Researcher - Power Laboratory

Job Description:
·        Seeking a self-motivated and organized ECE undergraduate student with background in electrical power to help construct, debug and test a 50kW power electronic converter.
·        Available for 10 hours/week during the Fall ’21 semester and 20 hours/week during the ’21 Winter Break
·        Must be able to work on-campus at the CSU Powerhouse building
·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
·        Assist Powerhouse faculty and research staff construct and test a 50kW power converter
·        Interpret CAD electrical drawings and printed circuit board schematics
·        Debug, solder, and test printed circuit boards
·        Build and install electrical hardware, terminals, and interconnection wiring.
·        Help perform validation testing at power, including running hardware tests, capturing measurements, and documenting results in written reports
 
Required Skills
·        Knowledge of three-phase electrical power, demonstrated by coursework in ECE 461/462 or equivalent.
·        Demonstrated experience with soldering and the use of electrical test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators)
 
Preferred Qualifications
·        Undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering with GPA above 3.3
·        Detail-oriented with the ability to produce high-quality and presentable electrical circuit boards and wiring layouts.
