Financial Aid Coordinator

Financial Aid Coordinator

Department: Financial Aid Office

Summary Description:

Working independently and with minimal supervision, provides administrative and technical support to the Financial Aid Office; advises students and parents on obtaining aid and potential aid eligibility; analyzes student data; serves as a part of the Financial Aid team to ensure regulatory compliance and timely delivery of financial aid services.

Required Qualifications:

Two years of college/Associate’s degree plus a minimum of one year of successful experience in a team-oriented professional setting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience), working directly with the general public, solving complex issues and facilitating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors; experience in managing detailed processes, multitasking in an environment with frequent interruptions; excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; proficient and accurate keyboarding skills with computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web development software (such as Dreamweaver); proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and intermediate business math; ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and correctly in a fast-paced environment; solution-oriented in completing tasks; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; ability to learn complex federal student financial aid rules and regulations; commitment to working collaboratively in the active support of a positive work environment; ability to operate standard office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree. Supervisory experience.
