Management and Program Analyst Spring Intern (GS-04/check qualifications section)

Interns will work on various assignments within one of GAO's operations or staff offices:

Chief Administrative Office (CAO) Business Process Analytics: Will work on internal surveys and evaluations, participate in the design, implementation and analysis of these programs. Experience or training with data analysis software (Excel, Python, R, Tableau, etc.) and quantitative research methods (surveys/polls/questionnaires, data collection, and statistics) and Qualtrics software survey platform are desired.

CAO, Insider Threat: Conducts risk assessments in order to triage potential insider threats. Assists in identifying agency-wide vulnerabilities that could be exploited by insider threats, and developing mitigation strategies.

CAO, Telework Special Assistant: Performs a full-range of analytical, technical and administrative work assignments in support of GAO's telework oversight, implementation and change management initiatives.

Continuous Process Improvement (CPI): Assists with process improvement and change management projects and use Agile project management techniques to implement agency-wide improvements, gather requirements for information technology systems, and/or analyze and visualize performance data.

Congressional Relations (CR): Fosters and maintains liaisons with congressional committees, Members of Congress, and congressional staff.

Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB): Reviewing and analyzing federal financial reports, providing assistance updating the FASAB Handbook, and/or supporting the development of implementation guidance. Data gathering and analysis using automation tools are desired.

Financial Management and Business Operations (FMBO): Maintaining, organizing, and reviewing accounting and budget documents and data for record management purposes; analyzing data to ensure consistency.

Human Capital Office (HCO): Performs analytical and technical assignments to support GAO's human resources functions i.e. researching human capital trends and leading practices, processing personnel and payroll actions, developing recruitment strategies, communications materials and enhancing diversity and inclusion programs.

Information Systems and Technology Services (ISTS), Budget, Acquisition, and Contracts Group (BACG): Assists in performing budget and procurement formulation and administration duties using Financial and MS office systems.

ISTSEngineering Services Group (ESG): Engineering support activities including research and preparation of engineering requirements, market research, deliverable reviews, validation of Engineering Technology & Enhancement (ETE) related services.

ISTS, Operational Readiness Group (ORG): Assists with inputting User Guides and IT Notices for GAO personnel to access in the Self Service portal of the Service Now Knowledge Management Data Base.

ISTS, Publishing and Dissemination Group (PDG): Various publishing support activities including operations, quality assurance, print procurement, publishing technical support, and accessibility. Knowledge of publishing, Adobe, and MS Office.

Infrastructure Operations (IO): Performs analytical studies focused on evaluating the effectiveness of various business operations, processes, and programs in the subject areas of facility management, security and emergency management, and records management.

Learning Center (LC): Provides course development assistance to the agency's learning & talent development unit to include: analysis, development and implementation of classroom, webinar, and eLearning courseware.

Office of the General Counsel (OGC) Assists management with a variety of administrative support functions, including supporting attorneys on projects by researching and retrieving GAO and OGC records and documents; assist paralegals with maintaining data systems.

Office of Inspector General (OIG) - Reports to the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations and collaborate with federal agents on the development of investigations, including assisting in interviews and analysis of documentary and email evidence.

Professional Development Program (PDP) Internal Office: Performs analytical assignments, office processes to identify efficiencies and improvements, utilizing Excel and PowerPoint applications, visualizing survey data, and researching trends and best practices.

Public Affairs (PA): Helps with maintaining and improving external communications on digital and social platforms and help with media relations.

Strategic Planning and External Liaison (SPEL): Helps to develop tools and methods to advance strategic planning and strategic foresight programs, promote dialogue within the accountability community, improve event coordination and planning tools.
