Public Health Language Interpreter (English & Spanish)
The schedule for this role offers a flexible work schedule with a remote work component too. This position may work the occasional evenings or weekends if needed.
Please note the hiring range for this position is from $38,000 to $50,000. This position is a grant-funded position, funded through 2023.
- Facilitate effective and accurate communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting verbal or written language communications from one language to another language.
- Provide clear and exact translation of written materials and interpretation of verbal communications.
- Assists with community outreach and collaborates with partner organizations to ensure communications address specific population needs.
- Assist clients and community members with completing forms, applications, and other documents. Answers questions and provides explanations.
- Provide interpreting services for clients and community members, programs, services, and events.
- Support a call center to assist English and non-English speaking community members over the phone to answer questions, determine needs, and refer to appropriate resources.
- Serve as a liaison with community programs and partners both internally and externally to ensure continuous collaboration in the development and delivery of communication.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in communications, communications studies, speech communication, or similar
- One or more years of experience in communications, foreign language, or similar
- English/Spanish Speaking
Preferred Qualifications:
- Are you certified as a translator and interpreter from a recognized program?
- Previous experience in translation of health and medical information.

Additional Information:
- Must have valid driver's license; if you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violation conviction in the past three years.
- Offer of employment contingent on criminal history check and education verification.
- Must provide immunization record at time of hire or prove immunity to comply with departmental Communicable Disease Control Policy within 30 days of hire.
