Student lab technician (plants)
The USDA-Agricultural Research Service, National Laboratory for Genetic Resources Preservation (NLGRP) in Fort Collins houses one of the largest seed collections in the world. We have a work study position available for a self-motivated student employee committed to supporting NLGRP activities. The employee may work up to 20 hrs/week between 8 am - 6 pm M-F in block of at least 2 hrs. The employee must be willing to work the spring semester.
The student technician will help us prepare seed for long term storage in our vaults, and will also help us prepare a shipment of seeds to the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway. The position will involve hands-on experience with data collection, data entry and data processing. The ideal candidate is able to work independently and efficiently. Attention to detail is required. Familiarity with spreadsheets is helpful.
This is an on-campus work-study position. NLGRP is located across from the General Services Building. You must have a work-study award to apply. US citizenship is required. There is one position available. Schedules are flexible Monday-Friday in blocks of time no shorter than 2 hours.
Hourly Rate: $14.50/hour
