*APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 12 CREDIT HOURS) IN THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU APPLY.
Position Description:
The Forester intern will work with the Resource Department at Custer State Park. Resource Department includes: Range Ecologist, Fire Ecologist, Timber Forester, and Bison Herdsman. Duties entail working closely with Forestry staff collecting research data and assisting with management activities. Maintenance of equipment, data entry, and office assistance will be required. May be working long and variable hours under adverse conditions. Must be in good physical condition, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to operate a truck and ATV off-road. Applicant will have the opportunity to obtain a Wildland Fire Certification and participate in wildland fire suppression prescribed fire activities in Custer State Park

Qualifications:
Applicant must be a full-time student at a college, university or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the applicant should have at least a sophomore standing or currently be enrolled at a technical institute and have completed one year (nine months). 
Preference will be given to applicants with a junior standing, South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
Coursework in plant identification, vegetation management and human dimensions is preferred.
Minimum Salary: $15.76
