
School of Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Program Work-Study Student Administrative Assistant

This person will work with two other student assistants to support the undergraduate Advising team and various faculty and staff in the School. Our students keep us organized, so we are looking for someone who can be level-headed and organized within an informal, fun, and somewhat fluid environment.
This is a work study position; applicant must be in good academic standing, eligible for work-study and submit proof of workstudy award with application.

What we are looking for:
The candidate must have work-study, be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic, solve problems with minimal direction, rapidly learn new tasks, and like to work independently in a collaborative environment.
The following skills are required: MUST be able to work with sensitive and confidential information. Also posses strong interpersonal skills; accurate organizational abilities and attention to detail; comfort and familiarity with email, internet searching, experience and/or willingness to learn new software and website management programs (such as Google docs/forms, Microsoft Word and Excel - we will also provide training); friendly, effective phone and in-person presence; professional demeanor; and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. 1st and 2nd year students preferred.
Training will be provided for tasks/duties/projects; we don't expect everyone to know all the technology!
The assistant will work in the following areas:
- Greeting visitors to SBME and helping to manage front reception area
- Spreadsheet (Excel) entry and management
- Managing calendars/appointments for advisers
- Looking up and managing information from university Ariesweb database
- Word processing, composing and updating documents
- Written and phone correspondence
- Filing and other organizational/administrative tasks
- Running campus errands
- Various small research projects (collecting and organizing lists of students, faculty or other data sets; comparing websites for ideas; assisting faculty on projects as necessary)
- Other duties as assigned
The following skills are a plus although not required: Experience with MS Outlook calendar and email, database programs, and creating PowerPoint slides. Familiarity with creating/posting social media content is also a bonus.
Expected start date: ASAP.
Pay rate range: All new hires will begin at $13.00/hr
