Job Responsibilities:

The Engineering Student Ambassador is a key position for recruitment efforts in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering. The ambassadors are part of the student recruitment team and report to the Manager for Undergraduate Recruitment Programs for the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering. They serve as go-to contacts for prospective students and their families.

Engineering student ambassadors provide personalized tours to WSCOE stakeholders, including college prospects and their families, industry partners, high school counselors, and others. Tours are tailored to the needs of each individual or group. Ambassadors should be able to speak and communicate effectively about their CSU engineering discipline and learn to communicate about other engineering majors. They should also be able to share information about engineering research projects, clubs and organizations, computing resources, their own college search, and their experiences as a CSU student.

As part of the student recruitment team, ambassadors need strong writing skills as they regularly craft emails, write blog entries, develop social media posts for multiple channels, and may be assigned other writing projects.

Students in this position place phone calls to prospective students each week. Ambassadors also text with prospective students on a regular basis. Phone experience is desired, but most important is the motivation to learn.

Student ambassadors work at recruitment events both on- and off-campus. The tasks at events vary greatly, from set up to lead communication roles and public speaking. Students represent the College at events and may be asked to make presentations for groups of all sizes. At this time ambassadors work remotely to connect with prospective students via webinars, virtual tours, and virtual recruitment events.

Due to the nature of this position, good people skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks are necessary to be effective.
