Event Coordinator Internship

The City Experiences' 2022 Hospitality Internship Program is a 13-week experience that takes you through operating both restaurants and event spaces. You will spend your first rotation 'learning the ropes' and getting acclimated to your first assigned vessel. By your next rotation, you will move to another vessel to get a deeper understanding of the differences between our five unique Chicago offerings. Your final rotation will be spent implementing the skills and tools you have learned during your initial rotations aboard the boat that best fits your personality and abilities.
Previous interns were offered growth and filled positions such as: Restaurant Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, Sales Coordinator, Contact Center Supervisor, F&B Administrative Assistant, Administrative Assistant to Marine Operations, Administrative Assistant of Chicago Operations, Training & Development Manager, F&B Admin & Operations Manager, Director of Inbound Sales, and Associate F&B Director.

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities: 
  • Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in our Respect Service System (RSS)
  • Ability to provide assistance when needed to onboard event managers, sales and Wedding Coordinators. Assistance may include attending ship meetings, executing timelines, maintaining contact with vendors, writing floor plans and maintaining communication between sales and operations
  • Will personally contribute to the unforgettable guest experience, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties
  • Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time
  • Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards
  • Maintain good relationships with various clients, vendors and coworkers
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on duty
Optional Intern Responsibilities or Opportunities and Growth
  • Shadow in various departments within our local office -sales, marketing, ticketing, accounting, HR to learn all aspects of the operation
  • Attend Q&A sessions with Corporate Leadership including but not limited to Vice Presidents of various departments via Webinar
  • Attend forecasting reviews, detail meetings, sales meetings, etc., based on level of interest in various departments

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be pursuing an associate degree or bachelor’s degree
  • Available to work Summer 2022
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential
  • Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers
  • Must possess a service orientation – actively looking for ways to help others
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Will work for extended periods without sitting
  • Required to lift furniture and other heavy items such as dishes up and down stairs
  • Will be required to be available for work on weekends and holidays
  •  Per maritime law, must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident 
  •  A self-starter, capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  •  Highly efficient team player, with the ability to also work independently in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  •  Process and quality-oriented with sharp attention to detail
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
