Horse Care - Temple Grandin Equine Center
Under the direction of theTemple Grandin Equine Center Equine Manager, this student hourly position will assist with care of horses. Duties include, but are not limited to, feeding horses and providing appropriate nutrition and care, cleaning indoor stalls and outdoor runs, and general cleaning and maintenance of all facilities utilized by the CSU Dept. of Animal Sciences/Equine Sciences program at the Temple Grandin Equine Center.
Hours are 10 - 20 hours per week, Sundays required, other hours negotiable.
Experience caring for horses including feeding, providing housing, monitoring general health and providing basic veterinarian follow-up care, blanketing horses, leading, walking, and evaluating horses for lameness, vices, or other unwanted conditions. Previous work experience at an equestrian boarding or training facility, equine veterinarian hospital, or equine assisted services center preferred.
Ability to lift up to 80 pounds approximately four times per day.
Ability to work in inclement weather, including dusty, moist, hot and cold conditions.
Ensure equines are appropriately fed, including providing hay, grains, supplements, and other nutrition.
Ensure equine health by monitoring feed intake and general nutrition and providing any necessary medications.
Maintain a clean and healthy environment for equines, including, but not limited to, clean stalls, outdoor runs, arenas, grooming areas, and all other equine facility areas.
Hourly pay rate is 13.50/hour.
