Inland Fisheries Assessment and Management Program Lead (Scientist)

Do you have an interest and experience with freshwater sport fisheries research and management? Are you interested in working on warm and coldwater sport fisheries issues?

The Fisheries Branch's Inland Fisheries Assessment and Management (IFAM) team is seeking a highly motivated individual to act as the statewide coordinator to develop and implement resource assessment studies evaluating warm and coldwater sport fisheries in lakes and reservoirs statewide. You will work closely with regional environmental scientists responsible for the design and implementation of research studies.
This position will communicate and conduct outreach with vested stakeholder groups by presenting research findings and management actions at the organization’s meetings.
 
Experience in developing research studies designed to answer complex resource questions, experience analyzing data, and strong writing skills are strongly desirable. Ability to speak to angling groups and other interested stakeholders is a plus.

This position is 12 months Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent. You will receive full health, dental, and vision benefits, as well as earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits!

Working Conditions
This position is currently teleworking due to Emergency Telework. Once Emergency Telework ends, this position may be eligible for hybrid telework. Hybrid telework will be dependent on operational need.
Work will be performed in both standard office setting as well as at various field locations. Field activities may require wading in unstable stream/river environments, the operation of motorized vessels and operation of four-wheel drive vehicles. Field activities may be performed in inclement weather conditions such as high winds and rain. This position will travel throughout the state with possible overnight travel required.
