Writer in Residence
Position Summary:
As the writer in residence at the CSU Libraries, you’ll help advance the Libraries’ mission of supporting research and creative artistry at Colorado State University. You’ll focus on student-centered programming, marketing and outreach, with an emphasis on promoting library materials and creating opportunities for student engagement with creative writing or other artistry. As a culmination of this position, you’ll share your creative writing with the CSU community at an event to be determined in coordination with the Creative Writing program and CSU Libraries. The position is for one academic year, starting on August 22, 2022 and ending on May 12, 2023, and is open only to graduate students in Master of Fine Arts - Creative Writing.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Event Programming and Outreach - Organize and host events for students at the Morgan Library featuring visiting authors for the Creative Writing Reading Series program, in coordination with the Creative Writing Reading Series program manager and CSU Libraries
- Explore opportunities for partnerships with student media for literature-related programming or content
- Propose and coordinate programming for students that support creative artistry and expression
- Coordinate with Creative Writing program and CSU Libraries to plan an event that highlights your creative work during the Spring semester
- Curation and Promotion of Library Materials - Curate book displays and develop reader’s advisory materials, such as recommended reading lists or other materials, to promote awareness of and engagement with the library’s collection
- Collaborate with team members to increase awareness of library resources via social media
Required Skills:
Completed graduate-level coursework in creative writing
