L&I Medical Program Specialist 2

We are in need of a Medical Program Specialist 2 (MPS2) within our Healthcare Policy and Payment Methods (HPPM) section within the Health Services Analysis (HSA) program of the Insurance Services division. In this role, you will be part of a team that manages policy development, contracting, review & analysis, and monitoring of health care cost initiatives. Your role will focus on projects to improve the utilization, cost and/or quality of medical services provided to Washington workers who are injured on the job. Our preferred candidate will work with professional staff and use analytic skills in a team environment to assess and solve problems; develop fee schedules, lead projects, recommend technically and politically viable solutions as well as answer questions concerning department policy and fees. By determining appropriate fees paid for covered services, developing policies and processes, and improving occupational medicine, L&I can help reduce disability for injured workers and mitigate economic hardship on workers, employers, and providers. If you want to be a part of a team that is passionate about making a positive difference in injured workers' lives, then we encourage you to apply now!

As the MPS2, your position will be focused on leading division wide initiatives and projects that improve the utilization, cost and or quality of medical services. You will direct project goals, scope, track and report on progress to executive management and steering committees. You will become a payment policy subject matter expert and manage both policies and fee schedules. You will lead analysis of healthcare delivery issues, provide quality assurance and tackle process improvements for identified processes, workflows and or communication challenges.
