Environmental Scientist (JC 353617)

The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) has an opening for a permanent, full-time Environmental Scientist to work in the Division of Water Rights’ Water Quality Certification, Public Trust, Cannabis, Administrative, & Reporting Branch Cannabis Instream Flows Unit. The position location is 1001 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814 on the 14th floor.

Duties:
Under the close supervision of the Cannabis Instream Flows Unit Senior Environmental Scientist in the Division of Water Rights (Division) and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State Water Resources Control Board’s (State Water Board) Strategic Plan, the Environmental Scientist (ES) is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for independently applying entry level work-experience and knowledge to the development and implementation of instream flow requirements and other conditions throughout the state to ensure that the individual and cumulative effects of water diversion and discharge associated with cannabis cultivation do not affect instream flows needed for aquatic resources and the flows needed to maintain natural flow variability. Specific responsibilities can be found in the Duty Statement.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
