Labor and Employment Specialist II - Salida

THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT RESIDENTS OF COLORADO ONLY

This position will be required to report to the listed address in Salida 5 days a week.

$2,057.08 - $3,010.62 Biweekly
$4,457.00 - $6,523.00 Monthly
$53,484.00 - $78,276.00 Annually

About this work unit:
We ensure every Colorado business has access to a skilled workforce and every Coloradan has access to meaningful employment, resulting in statewide economic vitality. This is accomplished by providing services tied to programs funded under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA), Wagner-Peyser, Trade Adjustment Act (TAA), and grants. We provide employment services including labor exchange; and referral of applicants to job openings and placement assistance. We foster partnerships with educational institutions and other community organizations to provide a network of support services to ensure Colorado has a qualified and relevant workforce.

About this position:
This position is an Employment Specialist II. This position works with all populations of job seeking candidates, including harder-to-serve individuals and people from a variety of different socio-economic and professional backgrounds. The goal: to help with their career choices and to assist them in overcoming barriers to employment through information and support. This position also provides a broad array of workforce services to business and works with partners and stakeholders for the benefit of the community. 
By providing direct services such as professional career guidance, labor market information, access to workforce center resources and connection to community resources, job seeker customers are better equipped to achieve their career and personal economic goals. In providing workforce center services to businesses such as job postings, candidate searches, workforce related information and key linkages - our businesses are supported. The convergence of job seeker services and services to business facilitated by Labor & Employment Specialists, helps to support and advance a robust local economy. 

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Substitutions:

Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. An example would be experience in the list below of professional experience.

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.

AND
One year of professional experience in TWO or more of the following:
  • Social media marketing
  • Direct sales 
  • Career advising
  • Event management
  • Policy analysis
  • Project management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 1 year of workforce or economic development experience.
  • Should have good technology skills. You should be at ease using computers.
  • Have an understanding of basic office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, printers, multi-line phone systems.
  • Experience giving presentations to large groups of people (for example at workshops, schools or colleges)
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to explain highly complex systems in simple, understandable terms;
  • Action & solution-oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher).
  • Excellent Social/Emotional Intelligence.
