Front Desk Assistant - Heart Disease Prevention Program, Department of Health and Exercise Science

The Human Performance Clinical Research Lab (HPCRL), designated as a CSU Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence since 2008, supports the departmental mission to discover new knowledge through excellence in research in the areas of health and exercise science and to disseminate that knowledge through academic and outreach programs. Housed in the HPCRL, the Heart Disease Prevention Program conducts heart health assessments. The program has been successfully implemented in fire and law enforcement agencies across the state and is a valuable service to support the health and wellness of firefighters and law enforcement officials.

Job Description:
Seeking a self-motivated, multi-tasking, organized, student employee who can demonstrate verbal and written communication skills.
May work up to 10 hrs/week
Must have active work study award for employment in Fall 2023 semester

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintain a high level of customer service by serving research participants and visitors to the HPCRL. PA
Answer main office phone and direct messages to the appropriate staff members, V/WC
Assist the Heart Disease Prevention Program (HDPP) including answer general inquiries via email or phone, schedule appointment, client check in, payment processing, data entry and necessary paperwork DP, V/WC, PA, CT/PS
Maintain an organized office flow and space by keeping inventory, ordering supplies, keeping a clean workspace CT/PS
Assist with managing shared lab space schedule DP, V/WC, CT/PS
 
Required Skills:
High level of motivation, problem solving and ability to self-learn in a new environment PA, CT/PS, SR
Superior work ethic, communication, as well as intellectual independence PA, DP, CT/PS
Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse setting and communicate effectively TW, V/WC
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite DP
Effective verbal communication and listening skills V/WC

Preferred Skills:
Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds TW
Experience that demonstrates problem solving skills, critical thinking and work independently with minimal supervision CT/PS, SR
Experience that demonstrates ability to effectively manage several projects simultaneously PA
 
This is a work-study position; applicant must be eligible for work-study to apply.

Hourly Pay Rate: $14-$15/hr
