Digital Engagement Center Student Ambassador

We are hiring for summer positions, with an expectation that candidates will remain with the program throughout the fall and spring semester.

The starting pay for this position is $14.00/hour and may be higher with relevant experience or education.

Do you have (or want) sales or fundraising experience? Love talking to people and getting to know them? Apply today to join the Digital Engagement Center (DEC) as a Student Ambassador. The DEC is CSU's fundraising call center that helps to fundraise for scholarships and departments across campus. You'll spend most of your time making calls to alumni and friends, building positive relationships, and asking for gifts to support initiatives across campus.

This is a great opportunity to develop verbal communication and sales skills, which can be especially helpful for careers in business, marketing, non-profit/fundraising, or communications. We'll give you the tools and information necessary for this role, but success will also depend on your knowledge of CSU and motivation to fundraise for its causes.

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • (95% of the time) Communicate over the phone and via text message with various groups, including alumni, parents, and friends to build positive relationships, share updates about CSU, and solicit gifts to CSU. (Career Competencies: Verbal & Written Communication, Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Personal Accountability, Creativity)
  • (5% of the time) Various clerical duties as assigned, typically data entry or assistance on training/team-building. (Career Competencies: Digital Proficiency, Creativity)

What We are Looking For 

Required Qualifications  
  • Current CSU student
  • Upholds CSU Principles of Community and University Advancement's mission for Inclusive Excellence by contributing to and providing an inclusive and respectful experience for colleagues and external audiences
  • Ability to work at least two shifts each week. Shifts are:

  • Sunday 11:30am - 2:30 pm
  • Sunday 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm
  • Monday 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  • Tuesday 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  • Wednesday 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  • Thursday 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous employment within University Advancement
  • Involvement with extracurricular organizations at CSU
  • Experience in sales or fundraising
  • Experience in a call center environment
  • Education or training in sales, marketing, communications, or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of CSU
  • Ability to work spring, summer, and fall semesters


Additional Job Details 
  • Pay rate: $14.00/hr
  • Anticipated start date:  Various start dates will be offered throughout the summer. Start date will typically be 3-4 weeks after an offer is accepted.

Who We Are 

The division of University Advancement at CSU is responsible for raising private financial support for the University. Our 165 staff members have raised over $1.2 billion for CSU in just the last 8 years. We facilitate individuals, corporations, foundations, and other university constituents giving back to campus priorities like faculty research, student scholarships, new buildings, and new programs that benefit our community and our students. We also help university alumni, donors and friends stay connected to CSU through events, communications, the Alumni Association and more.  

Annual Giving and Membership is responsible for soliciting gifts to CSU from alumni, friends, and family through digital, mail, and telephone channels. We are also responsible for increasing Alumni Association membership.
