Vision Solutions Field Engineer

We’re looking for a Camera Field Engineer to operate as the technical expert on end-to-end image formation and camera specification pipelines - making recommendations on optimal image/video acquisition parameters to our sales and engineering teams.
You’ll be working at our new office in downtown Palo Alto, just a five-minute walk from the Caltrain station.
What you’ll be doing
  • Set up lab and field environments for image/video quality testing
  • Assist with physical onsite installations and troubleshooting camera deployments
  • Compile high quality datasets by iterating through various camera parameters to optimize image/video quality, building automated tooling where possible 
  • Assist in qualifying customer leads from a technical perspective
  • Collaborate with the sales and engineering teams to recommend optimal camera parameters for specific customer requirements
How you’ll be doing it
  • You will empower our engineers to build and deploy world-class computer vision solutions to solve challenging business use cases.
  • You will operate in a collaborative but highly autonomous environment that isn’t bogged down by unnecessary meetings or project management.
  • You will learn a lot along the way, diving into new technologies and the world of computer vision both on your own and during frequent company tech talks.
What you bring to the table
  • Deep understanding of camera system pipelines and tradeoffs between various parameters and image quality
  • A high level understanding of networking infrastructure and protocols such as GigE, Genicam, USBVision, ONVIF, etc.
  • Familiarity with streaming protocols like RTMP, RTSP, HLS, etc. 
  • Experience with industrial machine vision cameras, and familiarity with camera manufacturers’ software
  • Solid oral, written, presentation, collaboration, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Adept at communicating to both technical and commercial audiences
  • Willingness and eligibility for security clearance up to TS/SCI
Bonus points if...
  • Undergraduate/graduate degree with a concentration in computer vision, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related field.
  • Previous work experience in solutions, sales engineering, professional services, consulting, or another customer-facing field.
  • Familiarity with one scripting language such as Python
  • Previous experience with downstream technologies such as Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Video Management Software (VMS).
  • Experience with high growth technology startups.
