Environmental Health Program Specialist

The primary purpose of this advanced Environmental Health position is to protect and promote public health through education, consultation, investigation, inspection, and the enforcement of applicable laws and regulations in the areas of Rabies Control and Clinics, Solid Waste complaints, Vector Control complaints, Demolition inspections, permitting and inspections of Tattoo Artists and inspections and permitting of Solid Waste haulers. This position will also assist in public swimming pool inspections, potable and irrigation water well supply inspections and septic inspections located in Cumberland County.

 

Examples of Duties:

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspect and permit Tattoo establishments located in Cumberland County.
  • Plan and implement Rabies Clinics in Cumberland County.
  • Demolition Inspections of buildings within the City of Fayetteville.
  • Assist other staff members with inspections in Swimming Pools, Solid Waste, Private Water Supply and Septic Inspections.
  • Field investigations of complaints regarding solid waste, vector control and environmental issues within the county.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of experience at the Environmental Health Specialist level in a health department. 

Necessary Special Qualifications - Registered as a Sanitarian by the N.C. State Board of Sanitarian Examiners. Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited universities.
