
Human Resources Intern
We are looking for two interns to join our human resources department this upcoming season!
- Sophomore/Junior Internship: we work with your college schedule. Must be able to commit to 11+ weeks.
- Senior Internship: Post-graduation to October 31, 2024.
- We provide free room and board!

Summary:
Gains knowledge and experience required for promotion to human resource positions under direction of experienced personnel and helps potential Custer State Park guests with information and reservation by performing the following duties:
Essential Functions:
- Provides excellent guest and employee service.
- Receives training and performs duties in several areas such as updating employee records, creating employee rewards and incentives and assisting in payroll and wage increases; performing background checks, assisting in interviews and hiring new employees; and learning recruitment methods such as developing new brochures, flyers and other materials.
- Updates internal databases with new employee information, including contact details and employment forms.
- Sets performance goals and objectives with human resource director.
- Monitors performance progress with human resource director.
- Gathers, enters, and assembles payroll data.
- Updates payroll and timeclock system to match.
- Sits in on meetings and conversations between the human resource director and fellow employees or managers.
- Works with highly confidential material of which all that is seen and discussed remains private.
- Exhibits exceptional phone etiquette skills.
- Is proficient in the use of the computerized reservation accounting system.
- Exhibits the highest degree of efficiency and accuracy in making and changing reservations.
- Is able to answer or find the answer to a variety of inquiries regarding Custer State Park, its lodges and park activities.
- Assists in processing bulk mailings and assists with data entry; mails information and applications as requested; and distributes daily incoming mail.
- Issues confirmations of all reservations made and changed.
- Posts and balances direct deposit credit card machine.
- Coordinates on a daily basis with individual lodges regarding reservation status, changes and availability of accommodations.
- Cleans work area on a daily basis and assists in maintaining a clean and uncluttered front office.
- Frequently moves from area to area as the need arises to support fellow staff members in achieving the company mission.
- Follows company dress code and has flexible work schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience Preferred:
- One year of college or technical school completed or three-to-six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements:

- Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing abilities and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occurs continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other associates.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
