The starting pay for this position is $14.50/hr.

Unit Description: ITEA

The department of Innovation Technology, Education and Analytics (ITEA) is comprised of four distinct work groups: Innovation Technology (IT), Instructional Design (ID), and Business Support (BS) and Analytics. High-level services provided by ITEA include database support, network administration, programming, application development, systems integration and security, reporting, system training, data analytics, and customer support. 

What You'll Be Doing:

This is a year-round student hourly position working within the Innovation, Technology, Education and Analytics (ITEA) team at University Advancement. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity for a student to gain valuable work experience in actual computing and networking business environments. Technical background is preferred but not required and training will be provided.

Job Responsibilities and Tasks:

Under the supervision of the IT System Administrator, this position will assist in the maintenance of multiple end-user systems (Windows 10 /11& Mac, iOS, Adndroid, and Unix OS), network printers, and various other services. This position helps manage the ITSM of the service desk practice by:

  • Responding promptly to incidents and service requests from staff members spread across several central and remote locations. (Digital Proficiency)
  • Performing various hardware and software installations, configurations, deployments, and troubleshooting various issues. (Critical Thinking/Problem Solving)
  • Assisting in the organizing and managing of technology assets, while also helping in the retirement of outdated and irrelevant technology, and updating and documenting technical documentation, all within a service desk platform. Maintain a clean and organized workspace for the shop and storage. (Personal Accountability)
  • Opportunities for further projects within the rest of the Innovation, Technology, Education, and Analytics (ITEA) team, on a needs basis. Opportunities for continuous improvement projects for UA, ITEA, and your resume. (Career Development)
  • Having excellent communication skills, knowledge of computer hardware/software support, patience, a desire to learn, dependable, and the ability to think and work independently are essential (Oral and Written Communication) (Personal Accountability)

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and O365
  • Experience in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting endpoints
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting technology hardware
  • Ability to work discreetly with sensitive information
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert with all Microsoft Office Suite and O365 applications
  • Expert in Windows 10/11, MacOS, iOS and Android
  • Experience creating technical documentation
  • General understanding of networking concepts
  • Work study approved, and all class levels are encouraged to apply
