Wetland Adaptation Mapping and Maryland Genuine Progress Intern

Main Purpose Of Job

This position is focused on two mapping/data analysis projects. One component centers around developing GIS StoryMaps and communications materials to assist with outreach and training on the updated Wetland Adaptation Areas (WAAs). WAAs highlight areas projected to be key wetland habitat across Maryland as sea level rises. The intern will work with members of Chesapeake & Coastal Service, as well as other units in DNR, to develop web resources, pamphlets, and ArcGIS products. Such materials will aid outreach and training for local governments, land trusts, and interested landowners in how to apply the new data. This will involve researching data sources, data entry and calculations, and development of web materials. Experience with Excel and Google Sheets is necessary.

The internship runs (12) weeks between (June and August). The specific start/end dates, hours, and schedule will be determined in collaboration between the intern and supervisor.
