Lead Advancement Assistant - College of Business

The pay range for this position is $14.42- $17.50/hr. 

The College of Business (COB) is looking for an organized, creative, and motivated individual to join the College of Business Development Office. You will directly support the Development team and will be an integral part of enhancing all aspects of development, donor relations, stewardship and office management. Start Date:  We are looking for a student that can start in April 2024 (10 - 15 hours/week) and throughout the remainder of the school year as schedules allow; we are also needing assistance throughout the summer (6-10 hours/week).

What You’ll Be Doing  

  • Lead a team of student assistants, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring the completion of assigned duties.
  • Facilitate training sessions and onboard new student staff members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Serve as a point of contact for student staff, addressing questions, concerns, and providing ongoing support and mentorship.
  • Extensive use of Ascend CRM database (training provided) - Pull weekly giving, create accurate reports and compiling into easy-to read formats, and maintain up-to-date records of COB alumni, donors, friends, and other contacts DP, V/WC, C, TW
  • Prospect Research - Research current and potential prospects on internet and other search engines CT/PS, PA
  • Event Coordinating - Assist Development team with Homecoming Tailgate, Canvas Stadium Suite, and Scholarship Luncheon events including managing RSVPs, event reservations and details, event decorating and hosting GC, CT/PS, DP, V/WC, CD, IT, C, L
  • Gift Processing - Develop an understanding of gift processing, working with the CSU Foundation, Constituent and Gift Information, and other University Advancement areas to accurately document and acknowledge gifts DP, PA
  • Assist and manage various aspects of Development office communications PA
  • Donor Acknowledgements – write weekly acknowledgment letters that recognize donors and encourage long-term relationships PA

Additional Responsibilities as Needed

  • General administrative duties/miscellaneous requests – copying, filing, stuffing/labeling envelopes for mailings, document delivery to campus buildings CD, TW
  • Develop an understanding of department accounts and accounting software and assist with processing P-Cards, travel reimbursements, and office supply orders CD, TW
  • Outlook– schedule meetings, add business contacts, update calendars CD, TW
  • Compile, edit, and distribute annual scholarship gratitude letters to donors DP, V/WC, CTW

What We are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a CSU student in good standing
  • Available a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven success in being organized and detail-oriented
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to cooperate and actively collaborate with team members
  • Self-motivated, flexible, dependable, time management skills

Preferred qualifications (but not required)

  • Ability to work a minimum of 3 hour blocks of time
  • Second year or Third year of your time at CSU
  • Experince working with the College of Business

Additional Job Details 

  • Pay rate: $14.42- $17.50/hr, commensurate with class standing and previous experience (Undergraduate students- $14.42 $16.50/hr; Graduate students- $14.42 -$17.50/hr)
